Release Date:<\/strong> 1975 Impressions: <\/strong>Even though I’ve heard it a million times, “Love is the Drug” is still a hell of an cut. Funky, sexy, funny, catchy, just aces. I can’t imagine the album keeping that pace up, but bright punchy “End of The Line” really does. So far, a tiny bit more commercial than their previous outings but still great, weird songs and Brian Ferry’s creepy vibe keeps this from becoming boring. Love the balance of weirdness and pop smarts. Still sounds fresh and cheeky. Dreamy feedback, they mix things up. Nice tension keeps you guessing. Plus they groove like a monster. Even saxophone works! Dynamic. The first four cuts are undeniable jams, just compulsively listenable. Some of it is like mad disco — bomp bomp bomp bomp — with strings and “She Sells” with perverted lyrics. Ferry’s voice is that unsettling bracer that cuts against the awesomeness of the music. Improbably, the album doesn’t relent. Hooks and beats for days… end to end brilliant.
