I’m just trying to enjoy the ride because, who knows, I could get bored and just stop doing this one day. Right? Anyhow, looking ahead to the next 50 records I see another varied group of music including all three Big Star albums. Again, I apologize in advance for any excessive gushing over their records, although, weirdly, I’ve never listened to their more experimental last album Third/Sister Lovers. The Clash, Dylan, U2, The Doors all make their first appearances, along with a patch of three ’60s girl group records in a row. Besides Big Star’s entire catalog, The Police, PJ Harvey, Cheap Trick, Brian Eno all show up twice each in this stretch. I don’t know if there is much rhyme or reason to the actual rankings (ie. is being ranked #335 significantly better than #489?) but sometimes it seems like-minded albums get lumped together for some reason. Or maybe that’s just a coincidence? Oh well, no big deal.
