Impressions:<\/strong>\u00a0I know the song. You know the song. But, still, let’s play the whole album\u2026I’m pretty sure we are all in agreement that the song “Band On The Run” is a goddamn nutballs masterpiece? Right? It’s three different epic songs perfectly arranged into a breezy five-minute mini-suite about a band. A band on the run.<\/p>\n

Outside of that,\u00a0I got no idea what most of the other songs are about, but at this point of his career, Paul McCartney was well into “I can do whatever the fuck I want” mode. Seriously, this collection of fun, goofy post-Beatle rock songs are all amazingly played, sharply arranged, and immensely listenable. The rocking “Jet,” swooing ballad “Bluebird,” rumbling “Mrs Vanderbilt” all have heavenly hooks. The album slows down a little before finishing off with the rousing piano driven “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five.” Sure, without John Lennon’s vinegar to cut McCartney’s honey, you don’t quite get the depth of say a Revolver<\/em>, but “what’s the use of worrying.” This album is still packed with catchy, fun tunes.<\/p>\n

Verdict:<\/strong>\u00a0Now free to run his solo show, Paul cranks out effortless ear candy full of golden harmonies, head-bobbing arrangements and goofy lyrics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
